Senator Santorum Comments on Terrorist Surveillance Program Decision

August 18, 2006
Pittsburgh, PA - U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today made the following statement in response to the Federal Judge's ruling regarding the National Security Agency (NSA) Surveillance Program.

"In this global war against Islamic Fascism we cannot defend our country with one hand tied behind our back. As I have said on more than one occasion, we must give our law enforcement personnel all of the necessary legal tools to hunt down these ruthless terrorists before they strike us. We only have to look to the recently thwarted terrorist plots in London to know that these threats are real and dangerous. These are ruthless individuals that want to do harm to America. Our terrorist surveillance programs are essential in fighting this war on Islamic Fascism. I disagree strongly with the judge's ruling and encourage the administration to vigorously appeal this decision."
